I remembered a great activity for practising ‘must/mustn’t/don’t have to…’ that was modelled on my CELTA a few years back. I used it last week and it worked well.
Give the students a table like this…
you can change the list of places to whatever you wish. First, tell the students to work alone. For each place they think of one thing you MUST do there, one thing you MUSTN’T do, etc.
Have a list of your own answers prepared. I had these on a flipchart but covered the answers at first.
Students speak with their partner and decide who has the better idea. They then decide the best idea in their group. A spokesperson from each group shares their answer. If it matches the teacher’s idea then the group get a point. Here were my prepared answers:
This was a pretty fun end to the lesson – why not give it a go?

I loved this activity. It helped me a lot, since I’ m teaching efl teens and sometimes it’s quite difficult to motivate and make them think in English. Thanks.
